Favorite things party invitations

"What is a favorite things party?" we hear you ask! This white elephant-esque gift swap says goodbye to squabbling over dud gifts and hello to a selection of items people actually want! No more worrying about where you will display that obscure homeware gift! It's time to look forward to getting something useful, and if you're lucky, you might even end up with something you've had your eye on for a while!

Choose your favorite things party invitation template from our selection. Consider featuring a charming little helper, or maybe opt for a template featuring towering stacks of gifts to create a flurry of excitement, the choice is yours! Once you have settled on your design, it's time to customize it! Add your text (include the date, time, location, and rules for your party), select the perfect font style and text color and then seal the deal with one of our beautiful envelope liners! Then all that's left to do is upload your guest list, and we will take care of the rest!

As the party draws near, use our handy guest messaging tool to send any updates while our RSVP tracker keeps an accurate headcount, so you can plan the big day accordingly.

What budget should you set for your favorite things party?

To make things fair for everyone involved, we recommend setting a budget that everyone should stick to when deciding which gift they are going to bring. This should be decided before you send out your favorite things party invitations and be included within your favorite things party invitation wording.

We suggest setting your budget depending on the size of the group. For a large group, we recommend a budget between $20-$40, with each guest bringing a singular gift. A smaller group may want to stick to a budget between $5-$10, and you should ask guests to bring along 2 of the same gift, so there is a varied choice of items for everyone. Medium-sized groups should consider a budget between $5-$15, and everyone should bring 3 of the same item. Remember to get your favorite things party invitations sent out as soon as possible so guests have plenty of time to choose their gifts!

What are the rules for a favorite things gift swap?

Throwing a favorite things party can be a ton of fun - who doesn't love getting presents? But before you start throwing confetti, there are a few ground rules you'll need to set. First things first, you need to decide whether you would like your guests to bring their presents wrapped or unwrapped. Wrapped presents work better for a dirty Santa-style swap. Otherwise, we suggest guests bring unwrapped gifts.

To ensure everyone gets something they want, each person should draw a number out of a hat at the start of the party. This will determine the order in which people choose their gifts. The person who chose first can either pick their favorite thing or steal someone else's and so on until everyone has had a turn. Each time a present is chosen, the member of the group who brought it should share why it is their favorite thing. Usually, each item can only be stolen twice, and individuals who have had a certain gift stolen from them cannot immediately steal it back. The guest who was the first to open a gift should be the last to steal one, and then the swap is complete!
